The Presto Project: A Study in Minimalist Luxury and Rapid Execution

The Design Vision

The Presto Project is a testament to the philosophy that small spaces can radiate grandeur through minimalist elegance. Designed by Ar. Shailendra Singh and Ar. Ragini Chari, the brief was clear: create an inviting, energetic, and focused workspace that prioritizes functionality without compromising on aesthetic appeal.

In a compact 400 sq. ft. footprint, we embraced a Modern Minimalist style. The concept centers on the play of natural light against a harmonious blend of solid and textured finishes, creating a chic professional environment that feels far larger than its physical boundaries.

Spatial Configuration & Zoning

Our primary objective was to define clear zones that foster both collaboration and focused individual work. Despite the narrow layout, we successfully integrated:

  1. A Compact Reception: A visually striking entrance featuring a slightly elevated desk tailored for the narrow corridor.

  2. Bifurcated Workstations: An open-plan layout divided into two distinct zones with ample desk space and overhead storage to maintain a clutter-free environment.

  3. The Private Cabin: A dedicated sanctuary for executive meetings, featuring a bespoke curved boss table.

  4. Support Amenities: Strategically placed pantry, print/copy area, and a waiting zone for visitors.

The Masterstroke: The Curved Feature Wall

The defining element of this project is the curved feature wall encountered immediately upon entry. Beyond its aesthetic elegance, this wall serves a critical functional purpose: it seamlessly integrates with the posterior structure to conceal a prominent structural column.

This curvilinear language is echoed in the bespoke boss table, where skilled carpentry was employed to create elegant curved-finished legs, ensuring visual harmony throughout the private cabin.

Materials & Palette

To maintain a sense of serenity and avoid visual clutter in a small space, we utilized a restrained material palette:

  • Laminates: Three distinct types of high-quality laminates, meticulously placed to provide depth and texture.

  • Glass Partitions: Used to enhance visual connectivity while providing necessary acoustic and functional separation.

  • Carpet Flooring: A neutral backdrop that provides a clean, polished look and enhances the office's acoustic quality.

  • Color Scheme: A palette inspired by natural serenity, designed to complement the influx of natural light.

Overcoming the Odds: The 30-Day USP

The "Presto" in the project title refers to its most significant challenge: Time. The clients required a complete interior renovation—including limited demolition—within a remarkably compressed one-month timeframe.

By streamlining our multidisciplinary approach and maintaining a focus on a limited number of high-priority details, House of Shaarag successfully delivered a luxury, bespoke workspace without exceeding the 30-day deadline.
